Bhartiya Skill Development University BSDU

The Bhar­ti­ya Skill Deve­lo­p­ment Uni­ver­si­ty BSDU is a voca­tio­nal uni­ver­si­ty. In the Swiss sen­se, this is a voca­tio­nal school. In other words, an edu­ca­tio­nal insti­tu­ti­on that fol­lows a dual edu­ca­ti­on sys­tem. The cha­rac­te­ristics of dual edu­ca­ti­on are descri­bed in more detail under Dual edu­ca­ti­on sys­tem. The aim is to impart inter­na­tio­nal­ly reco­gni­zed skills. This includes, among other things, the abili­ty to act, sound spe­cia­list know­ledge and a high sen­se of respon­si­bi­li­ty. The com­pe­ten­ci­es should be ali­gned with glo­bal stan­dards. In addi­ti­on, the 4Cs (cri­ti­cal thin­king, crea­ti­vi­ty, col­la­bo­ra­ti­on and com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on) are also part of the­se bench­marks. Pro­blem-based tea­ching is ano­ther important aspect of the BSDU’s tea­ching skills.

This black marble plaque documents the official inauguration of the Bharatiya Skill Development Campus (BSDC) in Jaipur, India. The initiative was launched by Dr. Rajendra Joshi and Mrs. Ursula Joshi and is based on the Swiss dual education system. 

The inauguration ceremony took place on April 23, 2016 and was performed by Smt. Vasundhara Raje, the then Chief Minister of Rajasthan.

The campus is supported by Rajendra & Ursula Joshi Skill Development Pvt. Ltd. and the Rajendra & Ursula Joshi Foundation and bears the motto "India's Will, Swiss Skill".

The Bhar­ti­ya Skill Deve­lo­p­ment Uni­ver­si­ty curr­ent­ly has two cam­pu­ses. Con­s­truc­tion of the Bhar­ti­ya Skill Deve­lo­p­ment Cam­pus (BSDC) began in 2014. Con­s­truc­tion of the first cam­pus began on a three-hec­ta­re plot in the “Mahin­dra World City” indus­tri­al estate, which is loca­ted near Jai­pur. The foun­ding cou­ple Rajen­dra and Ursu­la Joshi were final­ly able to inau­gu­ra­te the BSDC cam­pus in 2016 in the pre­sence of the Chief Minis­ter of Raja­sthan, Vasund­ha­ra Raje. On March 1, 2017, the sta­te of Raja­sthan issued the appr­oval for the first“Skill Deve­lo­p­ment Uni­ver­si­ty” in the sta­te. Short­ly after­wards, con­s­truc­tion work began on a new 30-hec­ta­re site. This new cam­pus is loca­ted appro­xi­m­ate­ly ele­ven kilo­me­ters from the old cam­pus, towards the city cen­ter of Jai­pur. The first cam­pus of the for­mer BSDC was inte­gra­ted into the new Bhar­ti­ya Skill Deve­lo­p­ment Uni­ver­si­ty.

The BSDU is not an aca­de­mic uni­ver­si­ty in the tra­di­tio­nal sen­se, but a voca­tio­nal col­lege that awards degrees to gra­dua­tes. The pos­si­ble degrees include Bache­lor of Voca­tio­nal Edu­ca­ti­on (BVoc), Mas­ter of Voca­tio­nal Edu­ca­ti­on (MVoc) and Doc­tor of Phi­lo­so­phy (PhD) in various pro­fes­si­ons.
