Bhartiya Skill Development University BSDU

The Bhartiya Skill Development University BSDU is a vocational university. In the Swiss sense, this is a vocational school. In other words, an educational institution that follows a dual education system. The characteristics of dual education are described in more detail under Dual education system. The aim is to impart internationally recognized skills. This includes, among other things, the ability to act, sound specialist knowledge and a high sense of responsibility. The competencies should be aligned with global standards. In addition, the 4Cs (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication) are also part of these benchmarks. Another important aspect of the BSDU’s teaching skills is problem-based teaching.

This black marble plaque documents the official inauguration of the Bharatiya Skill Development Campus (BSDC) in Jaipur, India. The initiative was launched by Dr. Rajendra Joshi and Mrs. Ursula Joshi and is based on the Swiss dual education system.

The opening ceremony took place on April 23, 2016 and was hosted by Smt. Vasundhara Raje, the then Chief Minister of Rajasthan.

The campus is supported by Rajendra & Ursula Joshi Skill Development Pvt. Ltd. and the Rajendra & Ursula Joshi Foundation and bears the motto "India's Will, Swiss Skill".

The Bhartiya Skill Development University currently has two campuses. Construction of the Bhartiya Skill Development Campus (BSDC) began in 2014. Construction of the first campus began on a three-hectare plot in the “Mahindra World City” industrial estate, which is located near Jaipur. The founding couple Rajendra and Ursula Joshi were finally able to inaugurate the BSDC campus in 2016 in the presence of the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje. On March 1, 2017, the state of Rajasthan issued the permit for the first“Skill Development University” in the state. Shortly afterwards, construction work began on a new 30-hectare site. This new campus is located approximately eleven kilometers from the old campus, towards the city center of Jaipur. The first campus of the former BSDC was integrated into the new Bhartiya Skill Development University.

The BSDU is not an academic university in the traditional sense, but a vocational college that awards degrees to graduates. The possible degrees include Bachelor of Vocational Education (BVoc), Master of Vocational Education (MVoc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in various professions.
