This is under\u00adstan\u00adda\u00adble. The cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adlum defi\u00adnes the com\u00adpe\u00adten\u00adci\u00ades stu\u00addents are expec\u00adted to acqui\u00adre. What is less obvious, howe\u00adver, is how this lear\u00adning actual\u00adly leads to <em>gra\u00addua\u00adte com\u00adpe\u00adten\u00adci\u00ades<\/em> and <em>gra\u00addua\u00adte employa\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty<\/em>.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgi\u00adcal chan\u00adge, arti\u00adfi\u00adci\u00adal intel\u00adli\u00adgence, and evol\u00adving skill sets are lea\u00adding to the revi\u00adsi\u00adon of cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adla, the fur\u00adther deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment of lear\u00adning out\u00adco\u00admes, and the adapt\u00ada\u00adti\u00adon of assess\u00adment methods world\u00adwi\u00adde.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\u00adse deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adments are essen\u00adti\u00adal. Howe\u00adver, they account for only part of the qua\u00adli\u00adty of edu\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adlum descri\u00adbes what stu\u00addents are expec\u00adted to learn. Howe\u00adver, it does not explain why insti\u00adtu\u00adti\u00adons with com\u00adpa\u00adra\u00adble cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adla some\u00adti\u00admes achie\u00adve very <em>dif\u00adfe\u00adrent out\u00adco\u00admes in terms of <\/em> <em>gra\u00addua\u00adte com\u00adpe\u00adten\u00adci\u00ades and <\/em> <em>gra\u00addua\u00adte employa\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So the real ques\u00adti\u00adon is:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under what insti\u00adtu\u00adtio\u00adnal con\u00addi\u00adti\u00adons do <em>gra\u00addua\u00adte com\u00adpe\u00adten\u00adci\u00ades and <\/em> <em>gra\u00addua\u00adte employa\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty<\/em> emer\u00adge?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For years, inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal edu\u00adca\u00adtio\u00adnal rese\u00adarch has been exami\u00adning why com\u00adpa\u00adra\u00adble reforms lead to dif\u00adfe\u00adrent out\u00adco\u00admes at dif\u00adfe\u00adrent insti\u00adtu\u00adti\u00adons. In this con\u00adtext, atten\u00adti\u00adon is incre\u00adasing\u00adly tur\u00adning to the insti\u00adtu\u00adtio\u00adnal con\u00addi\u00adti\u00adons neces\u00adsa\u00adry for suc\u00adcessful edu\u00adca\u00adtio\u00adnal deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment. <\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"from-curriculum-to-institution\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>From Curriculum to Institution<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In its poli\u00adcy paper <em>*Eco\u00adsys\u00adtems Approach to Cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adlum Chan\u00adge* (2026) <\/em>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oecd.org\/en.html\">OECD<\/a> points <em>out <\/em>that the suc\u00adcess of cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adlum reforms depends lar\u00adge\u00adly on the insti\u00adtu\u00adtio\u00adnal envi\u00adron\u00adment in which cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adla are deve\u00adlo\u00adped, imple\u00admen\u00adted, and con\u00adti\u00adnuous\u00adly refi\u00adned. (OECD, 2026) <\/p>\n\n<div data-wp-interactive=\"core\/file\" class=\"wp-block-file\"><object data-wp-bind--hidden=\"!state.hasPdfPreview\" hidden class=\"wp-block-file__embed\" data=\"https:\/\/joshi-foundation.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/df1310fd-en-1.pdf\" type=\"application\/pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px\" aria-label=\"Embed of df1310fd-en.\"><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-0f84e230-9c6a-4224-bbca-bbb72e68799c\" href=\"https:\/\/joshi-foundation.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/df1310fd-en-1.pdf\">df1310fd-en<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/joshi-foundation.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/df1310fd-en-1.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-0f84e230-9c6a-4224-bbca-bbb72e68799c\">Down\u00adload<\/a><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Micha\u00adel Ful\u00adlan<\/em> \u2019s work also shows that sus\u00adtainable edu\u00adca\u00adtio\u00adnal deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment can be unders\u00adtood as a coher\u00adent pro\u00adcess of insti\u00adtu\u00adtio\u00adnal chan\u00adge in which the impact ari\u00adses not from indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal reform ele\u00adments, but from their coor\u00addi\u00adna\u00adted inter\u00adac\u00adtion (Ful\u00adlan, 2007; Ful\u00adlan, 2011; Ful\u00adlan &amp; Quinn, 2016).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This broa\u00addens the scope of the ques\u00adti\u00adon posed abo\u00adve, becau\u00adse it is not only the qua\u00adli\u00adty of a cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adlum that mat\u00adters. Equal\u00adly rele\u00advant are the insti\u00adtu\u00adtio\u00adnal con\u00addi\u00adti\u00adons under which a cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adlum can effec\u00adtively achie\u00adve its inten\u00added impact. <\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"the-importance-of-institutional-relationships\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Importance of Institutional Relationships<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Com\u00adplex insti\u00adtu\u00adti\u00adons can only be unders\u00adtood to a limi\u00adt\u00aded ext\u00adent by ana\u00adly\u00adzing their indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal com\u00adpon\u00adents. Their effec\u00adti\u00adve\u00adness stems from the inter\u00adac\u00adtion of their ele\u00adments. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This insight is reflec\u00adted in num\u00ade\u00adrous aca\u00adde\u00admic disci\u00adpli\u00adnes. It is also beco\u00adming incre\u00adasing\u00adly important for the fur\u00adther deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment of <em>indus\u00adtry-inte\u00adgra\u00adted, prac\u00adti\u00adce-based hig\u00adher edu\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/ruj-bsdu.in\/\">Bhar\u00adti\u00adya Skill Deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty (BSDU)<\/a> fol\u00adlows this deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00admen\u00adtal approach and is gra\u00addu\u00adal\u00adly refi\u00adning it within the Indi\u00adan hig\u00adher edu\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon con\u00adtext. The focus is on cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adla, assess\u00adment, gover\u00adnan\u00adce, pedago\u00adgy, embedded work\u00adplace lear\u00adning, facul\u00adty deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment, qua\u00adli\u00adty assu\u00adrance, and col\u00adla\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon with indus\u00adtry. Tog\u00ade\u00adther, the\u00adse ele\u00adments form the insti\u00adtu\u00adtio\u00adnal frame\u00adwork of <em>Indus\u00adtry-Inte\u00adgra\u00adted Prac\u00adti\u00adce-Based Hig\u00adher Edu\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon<\/em>.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each of the\u00adse ele\u00adments ser\u00adves a distinct func\u00adtion. It pro\u00advi\u00addes the insti\u00adtu\u00adtio\u00adnal frame\u00adwork within which cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adla, embedded work\u00adplace lear\u00adning, gover\u00adnan\u00adce, assess\u00adment, and the other ele\u00adments of indus\u00adtry-inte\u00adgra\u00adted, prac\u00adti\u00adce-based hig\u00adher edu\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon can coll\u00adec\u00adtively achie\u00adve their inten\u00added impact. <\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"an-institutional-perspective\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">An Institutional Perspective<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal reco\u00adgni\u00adti\u00adon of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sbfi.admin.ch\/en\/swiss-education-system\">Switzerland\u2019s dual edu\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon sys\u00adtem<\/a> is often attri\u00adbu\u00adted to spe\u00adci\u00adfic mea\u00adsu\u00adres. Howe\u00adver, when one exami\u00adnes its insti\u00adtu\u00adtio\u00adnal deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment over a lon\u00adger peri\u00adod of time, a dif\u00adfe\u00adrent pic\u00adtu\u00adre emer\u00adges. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its par\u00adti\u00adcu\u00adlar strength lies not so much in indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adla or pedago\u00adgi\u00adcal approa\u00adches, but rather in the insti\u00adtu\u00adtio\u00adnal cohe\u00adrence with which edu\u00adca\u00adtio\u00adnal insti\u00adtu\u00adti\u00adons, the busi\u00adness sec\u00adtor, gover\u00adnan\u00adce, qua\u00adli\u00adty assu\u00adrance, and work-inte\u00adgra\u00adted lear\u00adning have been lin\u00adked over the deca\u00addes. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This per\u00adspec\u00adti\u00adve, in par\u00adti\u00adcu\u00adlar, seems rele\u00advant for insti\u00adtu\u00adti\u00adons that are deve\u00adlo\u00adping <em>indus\u00adtry-inte\u00adgra\u00adted, prac\u00adti\u00adce-based hig\u00adher edu\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The focus here is not on trans\u00adfer\u00adring an exis\u00adting sys\u00adtem.<\/strong> Rather, it is about trans\u00adfer\u00adring insti\u00adtu\u00adtio\u00adnal prin\u00adci\u00adples to a new hig\u00adher-edu\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon con\u00adtext and inte\u00adgra\u00adting them the\u00adre into an inde\u00adpen\u00addent <em>edu\u00adca\u00adtio\u00adnal archi\u00adtec\u00adtu\u00adre<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"conclusion\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The revi\u00adsi\u00adon of cur\u00adri\u00adcu\u00adla remains an indis\u00adpensable pre\u00adre\u00adqui\u00adsi\u00adte for the qua\u00adli\u00adty of<em> indus\u00adtry-inte\u00adgra\u00adted, prac\u00adti\u00adce-based hig\u00adher edu\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon<\/em>.
